Journal + A Long Walk + Challenge
I’m hosting the Graphic 45 Blog Challenge this month. It’s all about journaling. This month I want to see some creative layout ideas where the story behind the photograph takes center stage.
For an example, I created the following layout of my son, Parker:
The journaling reads:
Sweet Parker, This photo makes me sigh and smile. Whenever we go for our long family walks you always seem to be in your element. You are calm and curious. You are fun and thoughtful. You always pick me wild flowers. On this particular late February walk, there were wild flowers in bloom everywhere. You brought me handfuls of blossoms; so many, in fact, that I would let them fly in the breeze and we would make a wish as they blew away. Thank you for constantly reminding me of what is important in life. It’s so nice to slow down and walk with you.Love, Mom Parker and puppy, Kenai exploring Wookey Road Farm together.February 2009.For those of you that scrapbook, don’t forget how important it is to journal on your pages. As scrapbookers we put so much time into our layouts; it would be a shame not to know the story behind them.
The winner of this month’s challenge is chosen by the Graphic 45 Design Team and will win a package of Graphic 45 papers.

P.S. – I haven’t forgotten about my 300th Post Giveaway (this is post 298)!
I love the layout! You are so right about the journaling on the layouts. I recently recieved my late grandmother’s photo books and it’s so tragic that I don’t have the stories and the emotions to go with the photos. It’s really changed the way I scrap.
gorgeous I really must journal more – your writing is so neat – mine looks I am 5 years old !!!!
i agree with Susan – your handwriting is beautiful it looks like a font =)
Love and great challenge!
Okay, this is fabulous, and you made me cry!! Parker is such a little sweetie!! *STAMPIN HUGS* Alex
I agree that the journaling is so important, Christie. Pictures only tell a small part of the story. Without the thoughts, emotions & insights, the story is incomplete.
The story is so sweet and I love the picture!!!
I totally agree with you about the journaling. In the beginning of my scrapbooking days, I was a pretty lame journaler. A friend strongly encouraged me to journal. Now I make sure I include every bit of story and feelings that I can fit on that page.
Thanks so much for sharing this great layout.
Not only is your writing beautiful. but what you wrote really touches the heart… Parker will always know how much you love him and that you really “get” him and who he is… so very special!
I just checked out Paradise Scraobook Boutique’s blog because of your “Baby Elizabeth” post… the rocking chair photo that showed the store wall had me~ and then I read that you are teaching there today. Boy, do I wish I could be there to make that yummy~sweet layout with your instruction! Enjoy your day!
You are right journaling is very important. Something I need to start doing.
